Fractional Laser Resurfacing
How happy are you with the condition of your skin? Do you have acne scarring, surgical or trauma scars, lines, wrinkles, or stretch marks? Do you want your skin to look healthier and smoother? Do you want to look younger? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, a visit to your local Skin Care Centre in Vancouver and undergoing fractional laser resurfacing could be for you. This process essentially hits the reset button on your skin! For years, the cosmetic industry has been helping us look younger and healthier with creams, surgeries, Botox, fillers and more. They have somewhat recently introduced the use of laser into our beauty regimen. Laser is now used widely across many cosmetic fields including dentistry and facial rejuvenation. Fractional laser resurfacing is a relatively new treatment under the umbrella category of laser resurfacing. So what exactly is fractional laser resurfacing, how does it work, is it safe, who is it for, and what are the advantages?
How does it work
Fractional laser resurfacing uses a laser to send out brief pulses of high-energy light that are absorbed by water and substances in the skin known as chromophores. The light is then transformed into heat energy and the heat is used to destroy the thin layers of skin. As the wounded area heals, new skin grows to replace the damaged skin that was removed during the treatment. A numbing cream is applied prior to the treatment to make it more comfortable. Contrary to other laser resurfacing treatments, fractional laser resurfacing only targets microscopic columns of skin. The treated areas are surrounded by untreated areas, resulting in considerable visible improvement and minimal to no bleeding and scabbing. Because the procedure targets very small areas, approximately three to five treatments are required to achieve optimal results.
Fractional laser resurfacing is considered a type of surgery by many health professionals despite the fact that there are no incisions made. The healing process can be quite taxing on the body and for that reason, people with immune system problems are not recommended to attempt the procedure. People who scar easily are also not recommended to attempt the procedure for mostly cosmetic reasons. Despite the fact that the treatment can be used to treat acne scarring, the presence of active acne can increase the chance of infection. However, for doctor recommended candidates, the treatment is generally safe. Before undergoing this procedure, it is recommended that you discuss your medical history at length with your doctor.
Who are the ideal candidates?
Fractional laser resurfacing is for anyone who wants to achieve clearer, smoother skin. People with acne scarring, surgical or trauma scars, lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks are perfect candidates for the treatment. Because the laser targets water in the skin, which creates a thermal effect causing the collagen molecules to regenerate new collagen molecules, the results of fractional laser resurfacing keep you looking good for a long time! People who drastically want to change their look and boost confidence are perfect candidates for fractional laser resurfacing.
Get rid of unwanted scarring, smooth out your skin, and love how you look again with fractional laser resurfacing. Not only will you look good, but you will also feel good too!
