Photorejuvenation

Photorejuvenation is an all-round winner for promoting healthier skin as well as addressing specific conditions such as rosacea, acne scars, skin tone & textural concerns, pigmentation and aging skin.*

How Does Photorejuvenation Work?

Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive skin health and restoration treatment that reduces the damage inflicted on your skin from the sun, aging and biological factors. This non-laser technology supplies a broad spectrum of light that reaches deep down within the skin, targeting pigment, vascular imperfections, flushing, rosacea, acne scarring, and uneven skin tones.

The Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) handpiece emits a range of lightwaves that are then tuned and targeted at hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots). The light beam passes through the skin and is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin resulting in coagulation of the vessel or fragmenting of melanin pigment. These tiny vessels and the melanin pigment are then absorbed by the body, rendering them less visible. The collagen stimulation is a bonus and happens from the heat used in the treatment.

For skin therapy, Photorejuvenation stimulates new collagen growth, resulting in smoother, more even skin. This is an excellent choice for men and women of all ages. Photorejuvenation is a simple technique with minimal discomfort and downtime.*

At Yaletown Laser Centre, we use the Gentle Max Pro to perform our Photorejuvenation treatments.

Am I A Good Candidate For Photorejuvenation?

You’re a good candidate for Photorejuvenation treatments if you have dull, uneven skin tone, with excessive hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Photorejuvenation works best on fair to medium skin tones, as it’s easier to target darker pigment against lighter skin.

Depending on what we are treating, it is important for the patient to come in between 2-4 weeks with each session taking between 15-45 minutes.*

What Results Will I See?*

Results are often seen after only one session; however, for deeper correction and lasting benefits, 2-5 sessions are typically recommended with maintenance depending on sun exposure and other environmental factors.*

Is There Any Downtime?

This procedure has low to minimal downtime for patients needing mild correction and typically 1-5 days for those with more severe damage.* During this time, it is recommended that patients avoid activity that will increase the temperature of the skin such as using a steam room, performing vigorous exercise, and exposing the treated area to the sun unprotected.
