What’s the Difference Between Botox and Dysport?

Are you tired of those frown lines and wrinkles that seem etched between your eyebrows?

Fortunately, you don’t have to accept them as part of getting older. In fact, there’s a wide world of anti-aging injectables available out there, many of which are designed to treat those exact problem areas.

Two of those treatments – Botox and Dysport – are among the most popular choices for clients who want to treat the following:

  • Forehead lines and wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet (Botox only)

Intrigued? Want to figure out which one is right for you?

Let’s take a closer look at the biggest differences between Botox and Dysport.

The Biggest Differences Between Botox and Dysport

  • Botox is FDA-approved to treat forehead lines and wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Dysport is only FDA-approved to treat frown lines. That means if you have any other complaints apart from frown lines, your best bet may be to try Botox first.
  • Both Botox and Dysport contain botulinum toxin as a main ingredient. However, the Dysport formula is a little thinner than Botox’s formula, meaning it can spread to more areas than Botox.
  • Dysport is often more affordable than Botox. However, because the formula is slightly thinner than Botox, you may need to have more Dysport injections to achieve your ideal results than you would with Botox.
  • There are slight differences between how long Dysport and Botox results last for. Botox can last anywhere from three to six months, while Dysport lasts four to six months.
