How to Get Rid of Unwanted Hair

We already know that women want silky skin without hair. Not only does it look good, but in certain areas, such as the armpits, it also reduces body odour. And let’s not forget that women definitely don’t want any facial hair to speak of.

However, men also feel uncomfortable about excessive hair, and an increasing number of men are attending our clinic for a permanent solution. Before you take this step, you might like to consider your options, so we’ve compiled them into one easy article together with pros and cons.

Shave them off

Shaving certainly does work to remove unwanted body hair, but it has a few disadvantages. Firstly, you should be ready to shave every day. If you don’t, sharp, uncomfortable bristles develop. Instead of having smooth skin, you end up with a texture reminiscent of cacti! Then there’s shaving rash, an unfortunate complication of shaving. And since you’re going to be aiming for the closest shave possible, you may also experience the discomfort of ingrown hairs.

Pluck them out

We can’t imagine anyone actually plucking out hairs over a large area of the body one by one, but plucking offers a solution for unruly eyebrow hair or the occasional sprouting facial hair or hair around the nipples. It’s a time-consuming job, and you have to wait for the hair to regrow to the point where you can grip it with a tweezer before redoing it. It’s also a bit uncomfortable, but if you can pluck the hair out at the roots, it will take longer to regrow than it does when you shave.

Use hair removal cream

People use hair removal creams with mixed results. It’s definitely not good for sensitive areas, and those with sensitive skins might suffer from irritation or an unpleasant burning sensation. Hair removal cream dissolves the hair, but some hairs are very resilient. If the hair is soft and downy, it will dissolve easily, but coarse hairs may need repeat treatments before you can get rid of them.

Again, it isn’t a permanent solution. You’ll be back at it with the timer and the hair removal cream after a while, but it lasts longer than shaving when it works at all.

Waxing them away

Brace yourself, ladies and gentlemen. Waxing hurts. However, it produces beautiful results as the wax rips out the hair by the roots. The art is to do your wax removal as quickly as you can. Do it in one quick yank. A moment of eye-watering pain, and it’s all over – until next time. Yes, there will be a next time.

A lot of people choose salons for waxing simply because they need help applying the wax and an experienced hand when it comes to ripping it off. Brutal? When you get used to it, it isn’t so bad.

Home remedies

There are some interesting hair removal agent recipes online. However, we’re not eager to try them. Even if they don’t damage your skin, we don’t think hair removal can be that easy. If it were, everyone would be whipping up recipes in their kitchens, and we’d be the first to do so!

Electrolysis for the brave

It does hurt, and you will need to return for several treatments if the area to be covered is large. As for home electrolysis kits, please don’t even go there! Performing electrolysis properly requires training, so if you choose this route, select a reputable salon with trained staff. Electrolysis has one big advantage over the treatments discussed so far: it is permanent.

Laser hair removal is the savvy way to go

As experts in the field of cosmetic procedures, we’ve chosen laser hair removal as the best way to help our clients get rid of unwanted body hair.

The benefits are undeniable:

  • It’s faster than electrolysis
  • If done well, it’s permanent
  • It works very well for large areas of skin
  • It’s safe to use in sensitive areas of the body
  • It doesn’t cause irritation or damage to the skin itself
  • It’s safe and effective

Although you can get laser hair removal done at any time, we like to recommend spring or late winter. After laser hair removal, you should protect your skin from excessive sun exposure, so picking the cooler seasons ensures that you get the necessary sun-free recovery time. Tanning also seems to make laser hair removal less effective, so having it done before you attain your summer tan will make your treatment more effective.

Are you ready to free yourself from the hair removal grind?

If you’re tired of shaving, plucking, waxing, and harsh chemical creams, join the club! It’s a club that often ends up at our door. Yes, laser hair removal costs money, more than a salon wax, but it’s permanent. Just think of all the time, frustration and money you’ll save! Call us for an appointment with a laser hair removal expert and free yourself from a tiresome and uncomfortable personal care chore once and for all.
