Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin: What are they, who are they for, and comparison

Have you always wanted to keep your youthful appearance for as long as possible? Are you getting tired of looking in the mirror and seeing wrinkles? Do you restrict yourself from doing certain things because you’re embarrassed about how you look? If you answered yes to any of those questions you might be interested in an anti-aging treatment like Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. The cosmetic industry is flooded every day by prospective patients looking to enhance their look and boost confidence. Even with the best skin care routine; your skin begins to age just as the rest of your body does. However, you’re in luck; Vancouver Laser Centre here to help! From laser resurfacing to injectables and everything in between, the cosmetic industry has a treatment for you! One of the most popular treatments is Botox but other similar products are also on the market and just as effective. Let’s take a look at what Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin really are, who they’re for, and make some comparisons between the products.

What is Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?

Botox (Allergan), Dysport (Medicis), and Xeomin (Merz) are all injectable neuromodulators. This means they can temporarily change the nerve impulses of targeted muscles, resulting in reduction or elimination of contraction-induced wrinkles. Although each brand has a slightly different formulation of the same substance, bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, more commonly known as Botulinum Toxin A, they all work the same way. They work by blocking nerve impulses of the targeted muscles to temporarily immobilize muscle movements that cause expressive wrinkles. The most commonly targeted areas include: horizontal lines across the forehead and perpendicular lines between the brows. However, many people all over the world also count on Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin for crow’s feet, squint lines, lines around the neck, natural eyebrow lifts, and even physical problems such as excessive sweating and migraines.

Who are these products right for?

Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are safe for all skin types and skin colours. Despite the extremely safe and predictable results, women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or people with neurological diseases should not use injectables unless they have discussed it with a qualified cosmetic doctor. These products are perfect for anyone attempting to diminish or completely eliminate expressive lines and wrinkles and achieve a more youthful appearance.

Is there a difference between the products?

Because they all use a form of the same substance, the products are very similar. However, in certain situations, one may get a slightly different reaction compared to the others. It has been suggested that Dysport has a little more diffusion, which is better for correcting crow’s feet because it can cover more surface area while Botox has been suggested as the better alternative for a small correction of a rogue wrinkle. Typically, skincare professionals will tend to use the 3 products interchangeably.

If you are serious about revamping your appearance and taking back the looks you had in your earlier years, consult your local skincare professional and ask how Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin can help!
